Moving to Minnesota? Here’s The Process

Thinking about relocating to the Twin Cities? Here’s the step-by-step process we use to help out-of-state buyers find and purchase a home in Minnesota.

Step 1.

Find The Right Realtor®

This is the most important step of the process because the Realtor® you choose can either make your experience great, or they can make your experience a total nightmare! Moving to Minnesota is more than just finding the right home, especially if you haven’t been to Minnesota before. Having a Realtor® that’s experienced in relocations will help ensure that you make the right decision for you and your family. The Archie Homes Group has helped dozens of families call Minnesota their new home, and we’ve gotten pretty good at it!

“I found Brandon through his very informative and entertaining online content, after learning my employer was relocating me to Minneapolis. We learned so much through his online content, which helped us prepare to move and find a home. Brandon was able spend 4 days touring homes both virtually and in person. Brandon had a very chill vibe which we loved. He never oversold, but provided expert advice on cities and their amenities, home styles and price points. Brandon helped us successfully find a home in just 4 days after touring many homes across the twin cities. I used Brandon instead of the Relocation assistance because Brandon offered better service with more knowledge of the city. I'd highly recommend Brandon as your Relocation realtor.”

Step 2.

Schedule a Meeting

Once you’ve found the right Realtor®, the next most important step is schedule a meeting to go over the specifics of your move to the Twin Cities. This is where we will talk about the“Who, What, Why, and When” of your move.

(Who)- Who is moving with you? Is it just you, or the whole family?

(What)- What are you looking for in the neighborhood you move to? What are you looking for in the type of home you buy? What are the most important things to you about this move?

(Why)- Why Minnesota? Are their specific reasons why you want to move here?

(When)- What is your timeline and how soon are you looking to move?

Each of these questions serve a purpose because they help identify what the most important things to you are. Every city in the Twin Cities is different, and answering these questions beforehand will allow us to narrow down the BEST cities for you and your family.

Step 3.

Plan A Trip To Minnesota

We understand that everyone’s situation is different and making the trip up here prior to moving isn’t always doable, but we highly encourage you to visit if possible. This will help you get an actual feel of the different cities and neighborhoods and help you better determine which one is best for you. Most people typically come up for just a few days, and the vast majority of them actually find their new home while they’re here as well!

If you can’t make it up here, no problem! We act as your “boots on the ground” and do all of the leg work for you! When you see a home that you’re interested in, we will schedule a video call so that we can virtually walk you through the home as if you were actually here!

Step 4.

LOOK FOR HOMES

This is the fun part! Whether it be physically or virtually, we will look at homes in your preferred area until we find the perfect home for you. This part typically takes less than a week for the majority of people! Once you’ve found the home that you’re interested in we’ll write an offer! We will go over all of the aspects of the offer such as purchase price, closing date, etc. once your offer is accepted, closing on your new home can happen in as little as 30 days from the date your offer was accepted!

Step 5.

Closing Day

Roughly 30-40 days after your offer is accepted, you officially become a new Minnesota resident! It’s really that easy!
